How the YMCA Benefits the Spokane Community

Learn more about how the YMCA is benefitting the local Spokane community. The YMCA serves over 80,000 members and program partcipants each year in Spokane which we support through living out our mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

We live out this mission through one residential camp, YMCA Camp Reed, 22 child care sites, and 3 YMCA branches; North, Central, and Valley.

Through YMCA Camp Reed and our 22 child care sites, the YMCA serves on average, 35,000 children each year. The child care and day camp programs through the YMCA are about more than just looking after kids, it’s about nurturing their development and providing them with a safe place to learn foundational skills and develop healthy, trusting relationships. YMCA Camp Reed is another opportunity for children to experience how the YMCA lives out our mission while having the opportunity to explore nature, try exciting activities, gain confidence, and make lasting friendships and memories at Fan Lake. The YMCA does not only serve children, we also care about teens. Our teen programs partner with families, schools, businesses, and the entire community to provide them with the tools they need to build a bright future. Our teen programs serve a variety of interests from Youth & Government to Film Club to Music Lessons.

Our three branches: North Spokane, Central Spokane, and Spokane Valley serve children and teens in addition to the greater Spokane community where 1–in–6 Spokane county residents engage with the YMCA. Our branches have a multitude of Y programs that give our members and guests the opportunity to stay fit while benefitting physically, socially, and mentally.
