Staff Spotlight – Brenda

Staff Spotlight – Brenda

Brenda is the YMCA of the Inland Northwest’s Association Business Office Director, which is a fancy way of saying that she makes sure our business runs smoothly. This year she is celebrating 30 years of working at the YMCA! She started working with the Y while she was still college in 1987. She has been with the YMCA for over 12 years and started her career with the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, MI as a group exercise instructor. Deborah said she has always loved fitness and being healthy, and a friend who worked for the YMCA suggested she consider becoming an instructor. The YMCA has given Deborah many opportunities along the way—from becoming a faculty trainer in 3 different classes, to a lifestyle coach and facilitating classes for LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA and Diabetes Prevention Programs. It all helped broaden her knowledge of what it means to be a part of the community and has taught her many lessons in becoming a better trainer, better instructor and a better supervisor. Deborah said she is constantly learning, and seeking out new opportunities to connect and engage people at the Y as well as outside of the YMCA.
